To keep your trailer in good running order, we would recommend regular trailer servicing – much the same way that you would your car. Having your trailer regularly checked prevents parts failing causing damage and premature wear, which could in turn lead to larger repairs bills in the long run and possible failure or breakdowns just when you don’t want it.
Trailers have many essential moving parts. These would include the braking system; the coupling, the cables & rods and the brakes themselves. The wheels and bearings are constantly moving too so need regular checks.
We recommend the following service intervals: –
- Every THREE MONTHS or 3000 miles – Commercial / industrial trailers with “intensive” usage, either by mileage towed or how they have been used
- Every SIX MONTHS or 3000 miles – Commercial / industrial trailers with “average” use, either by mileage towed or how they have been used.
- Every TWELVE MONTHS or 6000 miles – General private / leisure trailers. This would include car trailers, box trailer, horseboxes, general use trailers etc

Our service prices include the following where appropriate
- Checking all lights and electrics are working correctly.
- Hitch checked for wear.
- Over run damper checked for leaks and functioning correctly
- Jockey wheel greased and checked for free movement.
- Brake rods / cables checked for wear and damage.
- Brake drums removed, brake shoes and internal moving components checked for wear and lubricated where appropriate**
- Wheel bearings checked for wear and damage and greased where appropriate.
- Brakes adjusted.
- Tyres and wheels checked for wear, damage and perishing.
- General safety inspection.
**Trailers that use one shot hub nuts will be charged for new hub nuts if required.
Please note: any parts required will be charged on top of the above prices, however we will not charge for any parts or extras until we have discussed with the customer.
